I wanted to challenge myself. I wanted to wear a collage. Break the boundaries of my sketchbooks and computer screens.
So I made a cape collaged of faux flowers and leaves, each individually hand sewn to wear to the Nasturtium Gala at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. I had the honor of creating art for the invitation, so why not wear some as well.
My fingers wept blood, and I nearly finished 20 minutes before I had to head out the door, but I did it. I made a cape that only lost 2 flowers from people stepping on them. It was glorious. Images captured by Ally Schmalling
